Free vs Commercial Web Hosting
The web host market is over saturated with horrible companies that are just waiting to rip you off and have horrible service, let me show you how to avoid that, but first let's learn why a free web host is not worth it.
So everybody has heard the term, "You get what you pay for". Getting on free hosting is no different. Search engines have a hard time taking your website seriously not to mention people and businesses. Most free hosts also don't offer things like C-Panel or FTP (critical if you want to ever expand your website, manual website edits, easily add blogs, configure email, etc.) Also, if you ever want to take advantage of Google Adsense, most free hosts do not allow you to place it on their servers. The biggest turn off when dealing with free hosting is advertisements and pop-up windows. Many free web hosts have advertisements and other annoying windows that really distract your website. Next is reliability and speed. For many free hosting companies, this isn't a priority, advertisements are. Bottom line, I do not recommend free hosting UNLESS you are trying to put some funny page up or something that doesn't need to be professional.
